QUANTUM SYSTEMS

We are an experimental research group in the School of Physics and Astronomy and the Centre for Human Brain Health (CHBH) at the University of Birmingham.

We use lasers to cool, trap and manipulate atoms. This enables us to reach temperatures as low as just a few billionths of a degree above the absolute zero, to study the fundamental quantum properties of matter, and to perform extremely precise measurements.
